What is NEET ?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET Entrance Exam every year for verious medical courses like MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Veterinary and Nursing courses in various top colleges of India. NEET is India’s single largest and toughest undergraduate medical entrance examination conducted offline mode. It is being speculated that the National Testing Agency may soon announce the NEET 2022 exam date. Candidates can check all the information related to this exam on the official website of NTA at ntaneet.nic.in. NEET exam is conducted based on the syllabus of class 11th and 12th in which questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology are asked.


NEET 2022 Exam Date

At present, the NEET 2022 exam date has not been announced. But it is being speculated that NTA may release NEET 2022 entrance exam date soon. Aspirants who are willing to take this exam can check the updates from time to time on the official website of NTA.


NEET 2022 Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidates willing to appear for NEET 2022 entrance exam should be at least 17 years of age as on 31 December 2022. 
  2. Along with Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), (Persons with Indian Origin) PIOs and foreign students can also take this test. 
  3. Students of 10+2 or those who have done 12th can appear in this exam. 
  4. For this exam, candidates have to study Biology/Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects. 
  5. Students should have secured minimum 50% marks in class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology combined. SC, ST, OBC-NCL category candidates should have minimum 40% marks in 12th.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the exam pattern for NEET 2022 exam. The exam pattern is available on the official website of National Testing Agency, ntaneet.nic.in. In this exam pattern, the candidate is given complete information about the scheme and mode of examination, question paper structure and topics. National Testing Agency (NTA) has made some important changes in the exam pattern of NEET 2022. As per the earlier exam pattern, 180 questions were asked from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) in the NEET exam. These Multiple Choice questions were to be answered on a specially designed OMR sheet using a ballpoint pen. 

But in NEET 2022 two sections have been included in the exam pattern of NEET (UG). There will be two sections in each subject. Section A will have 35 questions and Section B will have 15 questions. Out of these 15 questions, candidates have to answer any 10 questions. In such a situation, out of 200, only 180 questions will be solved.

Each question will carry four marks and for wrong answer one mark will be deducted under negative marking. Like last year the maximum marks will be 720 only.

Subject Wise Distribution of NEET Total Marks

Every year lakhs of students appear in the NEET exam. NEET is conducted to get admission in the top medical college of the country and due to these the competition is very high. Due to the fear of this competition, many students drop their preparation. On the other hand, some students do not take the exam thinking of doing better in the next attempt or leave the preparation in the middle. Marking Scheme for NEET 2022
  1. Each correct answer will be awarded four marks
  2. One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  3. No mark will be deducted for the questions which have not been answered
  4. Questions that have two or more responses marked on the OMR sheet will be considered as incorrect and one mark will be deducted for them

Important points to remember while marking the Answers on OMR sheets 
  1. NEET Aspirants must use ballpoint pen which will be provided in the examination hall to Marked the Answers.
  2. Always Remembered that More than one Answers or Changing of answers on the OMR sheet is not allowed. 
  3. Erasing/ obliterating any kind of information given on the OMR sheet is a punishable offence. 
  4. For Rough work use test booklet only
  5. Dont use OMR sheets for Rough Works. If you do it is punishable offense. 
  6. A Candidate must not forget to mark the test booklet code on the OMR sheet.
  7. Any text material, pieces of paper, geometry / pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, writing pad, pen drive, eraser, calculator etc. Wallets, goggles, handbags, belts, caps, etc.
  8. Candidates should not carry any communication device like mobile phone, Bluetooth, earphones, microphone, pager, health band etc. Any watch / wrist watch, bracelet, camera etc.
  9. Any jewelry / metal items.
  10. Any open or packaged food, water bottle etc.

1. What is the Total marks of NEET?
Answer: The NEET Exam commonly known as National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is a India’s single largest medical entrance examination for  admission in various medical courses across the country in any top medical college. The  NEET exam is an offline exam carried out in a pen-paper mode.

In NEET total 180 multiple choice questions are asked from Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Physics and Chemistry sections include 45 questions each for 180-180 ?marks respectively, while the Biology section will comprise of 90 questions for 360 Marks to be solved in a total time duration in 3 hours.

2. Is 300 a good score in NEET

For those students According to experts, after all the assessment, the cut-off for the general category in NEET will be around 510 for the general category. 490 for OBC, 395 for SC and around 350 marks for ST. 
Let us tell that a total of 180 questions have come in the exam. Four marks for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. If a student scores around 510 out of total 720 marks then his seat is almost confirmed. The cutoff is the minimum marks by which a student gets admission in medical colleges across the country.
To qualify for admission to MBBS-BDS, a candidate belonging to the unreserved category has to score a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET. Minimum 40 percentile for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, while it is necessary to have 45 percentile for handicapped students. Percentile will be decided on the basis of higher marks obtained in All India Common Merit List.



3. How many total marks in NEET exam?
Answer:  Students must know that NEET question paper comprises 180 questions for 720 total marks in NEET and each correct question has 4 marks which means. As we know the NEET exam questions paper is mainly divided into three sections  Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

NEET Physics and Chemistry comprises 45-45 questions respectively which means the NEET 2022 total marks for Physics and Chemistry are 180-180 marks. While NEET Biology Paper consists of 90 questions and it has total 360 marks which will be half of the total questions asked in NEET. 4. What are the passing marks in NEET ?

  1. If you belong to general category then you will get at least 550-600 marks out of 720, if you bring so many marks then you will get a very good government medical college.
  2. If you belong to OBC category then you will have to take around 500-600 marks to get a good college.
  3. If you belong to SC / ST category then you have to get more than 450 marks so that your admission can be done in a good government medical college.
